Long as I can grow it

April 7th, 2009 by lydia

Simon had his very first professional haircut this winter. Simon does not like appointments of any kind. It takes all of my Momma Skills to keep him from flipping out at the doctors. I pull out all the stops, cuddling, encouraging, explaining, coaching, praising, and of course rewarding. Aaron tried to take him to the dentist a year ago or so and he ended up back in the waiting room under a chair. I have not attempted the dentist since or the eye doctor (both of which he has to have before finishing Kindergarten). So I was worried, Really worried about this haircut.  Aaron gave Simon a huge pep talk before hand and we got this great old guy to cut his hair. He did so well! Not one single whimper! I was so relieved and he was so proud of himself. It’s nice to see your child conquer a fear. Simon was just happy because the guy gave him 2 lollipops.

Miriam was proud of her brother too, but VERY clear that her hair was not to be cut. She wants her hair to be long “like yours Momma”. I sortof want to go get a trim myself, but Miriam freaks out when I mention it so I will wait a while still. In the meantime her hair IS getting long and rather crazy…I haven’t figure out if there is a good product to help with this sort of bedhead and frizziness, but it’s so amusing I’m not looking all that hard.

Miriam’s hair cracked us up… we thought Josie had crazy hair, but I think Miriam is the winner! By the way, I added you to my blogroll, so I can find you faster :)
