“The Grouch who didn’t like Christmas”

Miriam “read” this book to me yesterday after I gave up trying to lull her to sleep with my reading.

“The Grouch who didn’t like Christmas (cover), The Grouch who didn’t like Christmas (blank first page), the grouch who didn’t like Christmas (title page), The Grouch who didn’t like Christmas his shoes were too tight, and his fingers were too tight, and his head was too tight, and his nose was too tight, and he had to stop christmas from coming. The noise, noise, noise, look at all those toys! Oh mommy that baby is climbing out of his highchair, and Looloo is sitting right there. So the grouch had an AWFUL idea. He put on his santy claus suit and he needed a reindeer, but there were not any reindeer so he found his dog Max.” (at this point I am sad to say I actually dozed off for a bit and woke up to) “so the grouch got looloo some water and then took the log and left the crumb for the mouse, and then took all the other houses logs and left their mouses. Then he went up up up and Max was too small. And they were at the top and he heard a sound. he heard LooLoo. And LooLoo was singing with everybody and the christmas was here. And LooLoo liked the beast.”

If you know the story I think you can follow that pretty well. I bought the book for the kids this year and was actually surprised that the pictures in the book are so different from the movie. I haven’t decided which Grinch I like better…
