saying good-bye

Aaron headed out to Boston for his annual business trip this morning at 4am. When Simon woke up he was concerned that he hadn’t gotten to say “good-bye” to Daddy. I thought for sure Aaron had talked to him last night, so I asked him “didn’t Daddy say good-bye last night?”

His reply “Well, I didn’t say good-bye, I just said that I would miss him.”

Miriam meanwhile woke up 10 minutes after Aaron left and rustled around for 2 hours asking where Daddy was and getting drinks of water. Then of course peed out of her diaper (what was I thinking giving her so much water?) so we had to change everything and finally settled back to sleep at 6. The sleep-deprivation of the single parenting is getting an early start this time.
