We have a tunnel

I said I would wait, and I did, but Miriam surprised me with the short timing. I wasn’t going to toilet-train her until it was her idea. I thought I would be waiting until next summer, but last week she decided she wanted to try sitting on the toilet. And on Thursday (on a well-timed whim of mine), She was sitting on the toilet when she had to poop. Aaron, Simon, and I were so excited, but Miriam got very shy and private about it so I figured it wouldn’t happen again for a long time. I was wrong, today Aaron caught her in the preparing to poop position, so I scooped her up and convinced her to sit on the toilet. Success again! I am still keeping my elation in check. Miriam has her own ideas about how things should go, so I will just enjoy each little success as it comes. But we have a tunnel now, and soon there will be a light! And then no more diapers!

I do believe Aaron is more excited than I am. Although he will have to learn to share his reading material…
